But if I had to come up with an equation for Fat Loss, it would look more like:
60% Nutrition + 40% Exercise = Fat Loss
What’s the difference?
When people say they want to “lose weight”, what they really mean is that they want to lose the extra fat off their bodies…so “I want to lose fat” is a more correct statement.
Just “losing weight” is actually much easier…you could lose water weight, lose muscle weight, or just use the bathroom a few extra times and “lose weight” as per the scale.
But that’s not what people are really looking for. They want to change the way their body looks and shed off the fat AND see some good, toned muscle underneath.
That is where the exercise part comes in.
Here’s the problem (that I see pretty much every day).
Many people are in too much PAIN to exercise and they’re at their wits end dealing with their back pain, knee pain, shoulder pain, joint pain (insert your pain here).
I can’t speak for every single case out there, but 9 times out of 10, the problem is one that does have a solution, it’s just a solution that is very, very different than one your medical professionals is telling you.
I’m not here to discredit doctors, or any other valuable health provider. I just think many times they do not address the root cause of the pain and merely just try and “manage” the symptoms.
Here’s a personal example.
My deceased wife was (that’s past tense) a long time back pain sufferer since her corporate America days. She tried doctor after doctor, only to get a prescription for pain killers, anti-inflammatories, or a few trips to physical therapists. These methods only worked short term, and were just masking the symptoms and never getting to the root of the problem.
Then she met me (probably the best day of her life…hahaha) and, no, I didn’t know how to cure her back pain, but I had access to information that could.

1. She corrected her muscular imbalances. Certain muscles were tight and others were weak. By using the proper stretching techniques and strengthening exercises, my wife was able to bring her body back to proper alignment.
2. Reducing and eliminating most inflammatory foods. Inflammation in the body is a huge cause of pain (especially joint pain). By reducing inflammatory foods like processed foods and sugar, the body will naturally rid itself of inflammation…even after just a few days.
3. Getting more sleep. By using the relaxation techniques Jesse suggests, she was able to sleep more through the night, allowing her body more time to recovery and repair.
Jesse specializes in back pain, but I would argue that the techniques in his book are valuable for anyone suffering from any kind of joint pain. Using these strategies can not only help you get out of pain, but can also help you greatly reduce the incidence of any future pain as well.
